QUIK-CURE 5-Minute Epoxy

QUIK-CURE is Bob Smith Industries' 5-minute epoxy, an equal two-part system that forms a high-strength bond through a chemical reaction between resin and hardener. It cures to a slightly flexible finish rather than a hard, brittle one, and that flexibility is what lets it bond materials as different as balsa wood and glass, and hold up in high-vibration or high-stress spots where a rigid epoxy would crack.
It's the least temperature-sensitive epoxy in the BSI lineup, curing in temperatures down to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. On the other end, temperatures above 90 degrees work against you, shortening the working time from 5 minutes down to under 4. Bonded items can be handled after about 15 minutes, with full strength reached at the one-hour mark.
For the best bond, work on clean, textured surfaces, smooth or non-porous surfaces should be roughened with coarse sandpaper first. If you need to clean up uncured epoxy, acetone or isopropyl rubbing alcohol are the solvents that work best.
QUIK-CURE isn't recommended for parts that sit submerged in water long-term, though it works fine for the internal structure of wood-framed boats. Once cured, it's resistant to most chemicals. It's also the only epoxy in the BSI lineup that can be coated with polyester resin without affecting the resin's own cure, and it can be mixed with microballoons to form a quick-setting putty when you need to fill a gap fast.

Balsa wood, soft wood, fiberglass, ceramics, hard plastics, white foam, and reinforcing.

The 4.5oz is sized for occasional repairs and single projects. The 9oz is the better value if you work with epoxy regularly.
