FINISH-CURE 20-Minute Finishing Epoxy
Not for structure, built for finish.
FINISH-CURE is Bob Smith Industries' 20-minute epoxy, but unlike the rest of the BSI epoxy lineup, it's not a structural adhesive. FINISH-CURE is built specifically for coating and finishing, a low-odor substitute for polyester finishing resin that leaves wood ready for primer and paint, or seals fiberglass cloth applied over wood.
It's the easiest epoxy in the lineup to sand, and it's the best choice in the line for sheeting foam-core wings or applying cloth to the inside of epoxy fiberglass fuselages. When an ounce or more is mixed in a cup, working time runs about 20 minutes, spread thin into a layer, that stretches to roughly 40 minutes.
The finish area needs to stay above 75 degrees Fahrenheit for a full 8 hours to cure properly. If the room's running cooler than that, warm the epoxy and hardener bottles (tops removed) in the microwave for about 20 seconds, using less time for partially-full bottles, then keep the project warm during cure with an occasional pass from a heat gun, or by covering it with a large cardboard box with a lamp inside.
For lightweight fiberglass, lay the cloth down first and brush FINISH-CURE through it. For heavier cloth, apply the epoxy to the surface first, then brush FINISH-CURE through the cloth on top. When sheeting foam wings, apply FINISH-CURE to the wood only, never directly to the foam.
If you need to clean up uncured epoxy, acetone or isopropyl rubbing alcohol are the solvents that work best. FINISH-CURE is best mixed in a disposable cup.

Fiberglass, white foam, laminating, water-resistant applications, balsa wood, and hard wood.

The 4.5oz is sized for occasional repairs and single projects. The 13oz is the better value if you work with epoxy regularly.
