For years, the CowRC cleaning system covered almost everything. Part and Chassis Wash handled the everyday, non-corrosive clean. Tire Wash brought tires back to life. But there was one small gap, a genuinely economical option for large-area degreasing and bulk ultrasonic cleaning, the kind of job where reaching for an aerosol can gets expensive fast. You may already know the CowRC system's simplest starting point, Part and Chassis Wash for the everyday clean, Cleaner and Degreaser for when something actually needs stripping. Simple Sonic isn't a replacement for either. It's not the corrosive half of that same two-cleaner pairing, it's a different tool entirely, one that shares real overlap with Cleaner and Degreaser rather than sitting opposite it. Most serious hobbyists end up reaching for both, just for different jobs. Cleaner and Degreaser is the fast, focused specialist, an aerosol built for quick strip-downs on electronics and small metal parts. Simple Sonic is the economical workhorse, built for the bigger jobs, an exploded shock, grease thrown across half a chassis, or a whole tray of gears and bearings dropped into the ultrasonic at once.
Most corrosive degreasers fall into one of two camps. Automotive-style acidic cleaners cut through heavy grease well, but bring real downsides, etching, staining, dulled finishes, metal corrosion, wastewater disposal headaches, and genuine chemical burn risk. Household-style alkaline cleaners lean the other way, whitening and drying out plastics over time, corroding softer metals, degrading rubber seals, dulling paint and coatings, breaking down adhesives, and carrying their own health hazards, often without the sharp smell that would otherwise warn you. Simple Sonic takes neither path. Its neutral formula relies on advanced surfactant technology and lubricity to lift grease and grime, not harsh chemical reaction, dramatically reducing, though never fully eliminating, the corrosion, etching, and brittling risk that comes with any corrosive cleaner. Finishes, coatings, waxes, and sealants hold up better. It's also classified as significantly less hazardous, with less fumes, and dramatically less harmful to the environment once it's rinsed away.
Simple Sonic is highly concentrated, which is exactly what makes it so economical, diluted down to the job at hand, a single quart goes a long way. But that same concentrated strength means full-strength Simple Sonic is genuinely aggressive, capable of stripping anodizing, ruining paint, and damaging plastics if it isn't diluted properly. Properly diluted, it is one of the safer corrosive cleaners you can reach for. Used carelessly or overly concentrated, it poses a real risk to your parts and finishes.
How to use it
Mix to the strength the job calls for. Heavy duty jobs call for a 32 to 1 ratio, regular duty sits at 64 to 1, and light duty stretches all the way to 128 to 1. That light duty ratio alone means a single quart can make up to 128 quarts of usable cleaner, potentially enough to last some hobbyists a lifetime. Simple Sonic can be used in two ways, as a spray, or in the ultrasonic. For spray use, apply, let it soak for three to five minutes, then it's recommended you rinse thoroughly afterward, to further reduce any potential for residue-related damage over time. In the ultrasonic, it's built for bulk jobs, a whole tray of gears and bearings at once. For plastics, or anything with a sensitive finish like anodizing, lean toward the lighter end of the dilution range, it's both the gentler choice and the safer one.
Simple Sonic rinses completely clean, streak and spot free by design. If you do notice any residue or spotting left behind, that points to your water source, not the formula, hard or mineral-heavy water is the usual culprit.
Simple Sonic carries a fresh citrus scent, genuinely pleasant, though it works a little differently here than it does elsewhere in the CowRC lineup. Because this is a corrosive cleaner, that citrus scent sits over a faint underlying chemical smell, though hardly noticeable, not something you'd call obvious, rather than becoming the scent entirely on its own the way it does in our non-corrosive cleaners.
As with any corrosive cleaner, a few cautions apply. Simple Sonic is not for use on Lexan, painted surfaces, light porous materials, electronics, O-rings, seals, or gaskets, remove those before degreasing wherever possible. Avoid long-term extended exposure and overly concentrated dilution ratios on plastics and polymers generally, and always test an inconspicuous area first. As with any cleaning chemical, keep out of reach of children, and handle with the same basic care you'd use with any corrosive cleaner.
Simple Sonic isn't just for electric setups either. It also cuts through the residue nitro and gas engines leave behind, worth knowing if that's the corner of the hobby you're in. And despite its strength, it's a low VOC corrosive cleaning solution, and nonflammable.

- Using the USB Rechargeable Sprayer with Simple Sonic? Give it a rinse with clean water after extended use, since Simple Sonic is corrosive, this helps protect the sprayer's seals and internal parts over the long run.
